How to play
Chipz is a ‘game within a game’ for golf. There are 30 Chipz, 25 of which are penalty Chipz with the remaining 5 as rewards.
There is only 1 of each chip, with the appropriate chip being passed to the next player.
For example:
John, Tom, Chris and Matt are playing a round as a group - John hits his ball into a tree and receives the monkey chip as a penalty, Tom then takes his shot and also hits a tree – John then passes the monkey chip to Tom. The same rules apply for the reward Chipz -Chris putts in for birdie and receives the Birdie reward chip only to have Matt also making birdie on the hole taking the reward chip off player 2.
All penalty Chipz have a negative dollar value and all reward Chipz have a positive dollar value (a penalty chip will cost you money whilst a reward chip will make you money)
At the end of the round all players tally up the Chipz and pay their portion into the ‘pot’.
Player can then decide how to divvy up the combined winnings (or place all $ on the bar).
Multiple Chipz can be accrued on a hole (and swing) – After his previous Birdie, Chris tees off on the 9th tee, pulls his drive into the trees and through to the hazard earning himself the Monkey Chip (hitting a tree) and the Frog Chip (landing in a hazard) for a combined $10 penalty. Unfortunately, it gets worse for Chris as once he is on the green he proceeds to 3 putt and earn himself the Snake Chip (3 putt) taking his 9th hole tally to $15. Lucky enough for Chris, Tom also 3 putts which allows Chris to hand over the Snake Chip to Tom and reduce his 9th hole tally to $10.
Chipz always get passed to the following player – Chis had 3 putted before Tom so got to hand him the Snake Chip but if Tom had putted first Chris would have retained the Snake Chip.
Dollar values on the Chipz are a guide only.
Players can choose to play the entire set or selected Chipz
